On-line subject evaluations - Message from Biology Department Chair
Dear Students -If you haven't already done so, please take some time to complete the online evaluations for the biology courses you took this semester. Your feedback is very important and will help the department continue to offer the best possible learning experience in your courses.
The online evaluation site can be accessed at: http://web.mit.edu/subjectevaluation.
Best regards,
Prof. Chris Kaiser
Biology Department Chair

First Meeting & Registration
Hello Students. Just a reminder that the first class for 7.18/7.19 will take place on Thursday, Sept. 8 at 2:00pm in 68-121.Please note that registration for 7.18 will be contingent on a letter from your faculty mentor. Letters must be received by the end of the first week of classes, Friday September 9.
The letter must state the following:
* The mentor's willingness to sponsor the student for Project Lab credit. The research mentor must be a member of the MIT faculty and the research must be conducted on the MIT campus.
* That the mentor expects that the student will complete 30 units of laboratory work that semester.
* That the student already has some experience working in the mentor's laboratory. This experience must be a 12-unit UROP project or full-time work over the summer. Lab work over IAP will NOT fulfill this requirement, because IAP is too short for the faculty member to reliably judge whether the project will be appropriate for 7.18 credit.
* The mentor's expectation that the student will turn in a 15-page research report by the last day of class, and that the mentor is willing to grade and comment on the paper.
Additional information is available at http://mit.edu/biology/www/undergrad/7.18.html.
Thank you,
Nick
