Interesting Interview

Hi all,

As a Holidays reading present, I have posted (in Lecture Notes) a conversation-interview between Hans Bethe and David Mermin, about the beginnings of solid state physics. I found it very enjoyable. I hope you too.

Best,

Pablo

Final grades posted

Hi all,

I hope you enjoyed the exam. Final grades are posted on-line and should be visible (I think... there's a new on-line system, and perhaps they only become visible after a few days).

It was a great pleasure to teach 8.231 and I hope you enjoyed as much as I did. I want to thank you all for your interest, your good and tough questions, and also David for being such a superb TA. I hope at least some of you will continue studying condensed matter physics, and I wish you all the best with the rest of your exams this week!

Happy holidays and new year, and see you around MIT!

Course evaluations - last call

Hi all,

One last reminder to please fill course evaluations for those of you that haven't yet (see email below). I think deadline is tonight.

Thanks a lot!

Pablo

---------

Hi all,

I was glad to see most of you this morning in the experimental demo. I enjoyed it very much (it was also first time for me to see some aspects, like the superfluid transition), and I hope you enjoyed it too.

I would like to ask all of you to please take a moment to fill the course evaluation forms (these can be filled online at: http://web.mit.edu/ subjectevaluation). You can do this until Friday. It's very important to both David and myself to learn how we have done. Beyond the numerical scores, it's a lot more important to get written comments from you about what was best/most interesting, what was not so good/interesting, suggestions for improvement, etc. This will help us improve the course for next year.

Best regards and good luck with finals!
