Graybar Typo

Class,

There’s a typo in the draft registration statement. On Page 15, $747.00 should be $647.00. In the whole scheme of things, this typo is not important. Good work Gerard in uncovering that.

Cheers,

Mike

A Note on Graybar and Assignments

Hello Everyone,

By now, you should have received assignment #2 and your midterm reports will be forthcoming. Great job so far.

Graybar is coming up which (in my opinion) is one of our most interesting classes. Read everything carefully before class to really get the most out of Thursday's lecture. You will not regret putting an extra hour or two into the reading.

Finally, the vast majority of the class is doing great, original work. Thank you and keep it up.

The following message is for those few people who might be trying to CTRL F, CTRL C and CTRL V their way out of work.

Please do not just copy and paste the readings and call it an answer. Further, always quote the text that you directly pull from the reading. We notice. Not all the time but most of the time. Not quoting is inconsistent with the MIT Academic policy and we take that very seriously. Do the bare minimum and use quotes. The assignments are not designed to test adobe or Google search skills, they are designed to get original (even if incorrect) ideas out of you through wrestling with the material. For clarity, we do not grade your writing we grade your ideas so there should be no concern if English is not your first language.

If you do decide to just cut and paste from any source and not use quotes, you will fail. This is the second and final warning on this point. Not knowing or forgetting is never an excuse and failing a course at MIT is not worth it.

To end on a positive note, the class is going really well this semester and we sincerely appreciate everyone's enthusiasm and thoughtful participation The guest judges and attorney lecturers have all been really impressed.

Thank you,

Mike, Adam and Christina
