Project, part 2 updated

Hello class,

We hope the quizz went well.

I have updated the second part of the project on stellar. I am still investigating your versions of the nonlinear model, so in the interest of time and consistency for the second part of the project, a working version of buildNonlinear is available.

Thanks to Amy and Jacob's help, we have implemented most of the code you'll need for this part to make it achievable in the short time left before Tuesday.

Regarding the bonus linearization question, you can give your answer to Maria, professor Triantafyllou's assistant.

Feel free to contact me if you have questions,

Gabriel

Project, part 2

Hello class,

Thanks for your files, I will review them and get them back to you shortly.

The second part of the project is online (we may add a part question on LTR). You can start with your own scripts and I will also send you shortly the script solutions and parameters so that we are all on the same page.

Best,

Gabriel

class tomorrow, 10am: bring your questions on the project

Hello class,

Professor Triantafyllou will be away tomorrow, so we will talk about the project instead of the regular class. Please come at 10 in the regular classroom with loads of questions!

You guys will actually have more time that initially expected to complete and present the project. I will release the second part in the next couple days.

As far as the deliverables are concerned, you can submit your .m files starting from tomorrow. I will check them on Friday and give you feedback so that you can fix them over the week end. The solutions for the first part will be released early next week.

project follow up

Hello class,

A few details on the homework:
- psi as drawn is incorect, what is drawn is actually psi + pi/2.
- Assume the foils have no inertia/mass/thickness (the corresponding terms in the params file therefore don't matter). Compute the added mass force and moment terms accordingly.

Also, someone forgot some calculations yesterday during office hours, come to pick them up if they are yours!

Happy week end,

Gabriel
