Subject Description:
Chemical and physical properties of the cell and its building blocks. Structures of proteins and principles of catalysis. The chemistry of organic/inorganic cofactors required for chemical transformations within the cell. Basic principles of metabolism and regulation in pathways, including glycolysis, gluconeogenesis, fatty acid synthesis/degradation, pentose phosphate pathway, Krebs cycle and oxidative phosphorylation. DNA replication transcription and translation are not covered in this course (see 5.08 for these topics).

5.07 Final Makeup Exams
Hello everyone,Some of you have three finals on Wednesday Dec 18th, therefore you may take the 5.07 final at another time. We have two makeup final exams scheduled for Tuesday (Dec 17th) 1-4pm or Thursday (Dec 19th) 9-noon. Please let me know ASAP whichever one you prefer.
