Grades, final solutions, etc

Hello everybody!

1) Prof. Hagelstein prepared solutions to the final exam, which are now online.

2) A histogram of the grades for the final is also posted. If you'd like to look at your final exam, do go
talk to Prof. Hagelstein in his office, 26-339.

3) I posted my code for the famous Numerov numerical problem (PSet 6, Problem 4). Needless to say that, if you have
not turned it in yet, it's too late because...

4) Grades are posted in Websis!

This is the last email you will receive from me; I thank you all for your interest and enthusiasm.

Prof. Hagelstein and I know how hard you worked - keep it up! Wishing you all a very successful career at MIT,

Clarice

PS: Happy holidays! Remember to sleep a lot.

2) I remind you that MON is TUTORIAL DAY - I'll be available 9am-7pm in 26-201, with
more 'formal' review sessions 1.30, 2.30, 4.

3) I remind you that your corrected PSet 13 are already in a box in front of Prof. Hagelstein's office, 26-339.

Tuts Tomorrow WED + remarks on final + corrections PSet 14, notes + MON Tut Day

Hello,

1) Tutorials tomorrow, WED!!! Place: 35-310 // Time: 1-2, 2-3, 3.30-4.30

2) For the final, as the Prof. announced in class, YOU CAN BRING 3 A4 CHEAT-SHEETS. You will also be given "official" formula sheets. (For a model of "official" formula sheets, check in one of the old finals posted.) I also repeat what the Prof. said: the final will be heavily weighted towards the material covered at the end of the semester, but will also contain "the usual suspects": Ehrenfest, SHO, piecewise constant potentials, coupled systems, quantization of EM field, stat mech, ...

3) Correction for Problem 1 in PSet 14: a^\dagger operator should be in psi_f, not psi_i. DO ATTEMPT TO SOLVE PSET 14!

4) You will get your corrected PSet 12 tomorrow in class. Your corrected PSet 13 will be available on Friday,
from 9am on in a box in front of Prof. Hagelstein's office, 26-339. (Feel free to stop by and tell him how much you've appreciated the class!)

5) Typos on Prof.'s notes on Radiative decay have been corrected. Please update your version.

6) Monday: TUTORIAL DAY! I will be in 26-201 from 9am to 7pm for general questions.
More 'formal' review sessions at 1.30, 2.30, 4.

Keep studying,

Clarice

time, place of final + Prof.'s notes on Coulomb integrals + Tuts next week Tue,WED + remind

Hi there,

1) Final: Tuesday, December 17 // 1:30PM - 4:30PM // in 26-328 and 26-322

2) Prof.'s notes on Coulomb integrals, as seen in class today, have been posted.

3) Tutorials next week: so that everybody has a chance to look at PSet 14 (which, although NOT due, WILL be covered by the final), we will have tutorials on Tuesday (usual) + WEDNESDAY (place tbd).  (No tut on Monday. Use that time to have a look at PSet 14.)

4) Subject evaluations are opened (http://web.mit.edu/subjectevaluation) until Dec 15. It *is* useful (for the staff and for you!). I have often used other students' feedback to help me choose my classes.

5) Reminder: for those who have not yet turned in the numerical problem, do not forget to do so. It's worth 30 points!

6) Reminder: project due date is December, 11th.

Have a productive weekend,

Clarice

Pset 13, Problem 4: sign issue

Good evening,

with high probability, I think some signs got messed up in the wording of Problem 4.
You should get the same result for parts a) and b), but don't worry if you do not - you will not be penalized.
(if you show your work etc etc.)
