About Past Quiz 2006 P2(g)
Hello class,
Thanks to Matthew Gombolay, we found another mistake in the past quiz solution: 2006 P2(g).
In the case of sector A, when 0.5<x<1, the mean distance is P[min(2(1-x)+y_B,1)] as the solution says, but this is 5/6 instead of 3/4. The remaining calculation is also affected accordingly.
Thank you. sleep well tonight and good luck for the quiz:)

Koki Ho

About Past Quizzes
Hello class,Hope you are enjoying the pre-quiz weekend.
I have got some questions about the past quizzes, and apparently there are some mistakes in the solutions. The following are those I recognize so far.
- In 2005 Quiz P2(c), the solution says that Mean A-to-B
response distance is 3pi/4. However, this ignores the fact that an
ambulance always travels the shortest circumferential distance. If
you consider that, it becomes (2/3){11pi/16} + (1/3){3pi/4} =
17pi/24. Thank you for pointing this out, Yoo Joon Kim.
- Also, in 2005 Quiz P2(f) Condition 3,
(3/8)*(3π/8)*0.5+(5/8)*(5π/8)*0.5 should be 17π/64 instead of
19π/128 in the solution. Thank you for pointing this out, Tatsuya
Doi.
Also, there are some advanced problems about location theory in the past quizzes. We did not cover location theory in detail this year; so you don't need to be able to solve all of them. As long as you understand the materials in the lecture slides and homework sets, you will be fine for the quiz 2.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. Thank you and good luck:)
Best,
Koki
