18.785  Number Theory I

The last problem set is due Monday, December 8.  It is now posted.  Happy Thanksgiving!

I added a link in the left menu in Stellar to a 4-page document outlining the analogy between number fields and function fields.  (This is extracted from some old lecture notes of mine at math.mit.edu/~poonen/papers/curves.pdf .)  Some of the concepts in that document have not been discussed yet.

Because of the math department retreat this weekend, and because of my limited office hours, I've decided to extend the deadline for problem set 6.  It will now be due one week later, on October 20 at 11:59pm (despite what it says at the top).

In problem 6.1, the starting point a should be in A, not in K.  (If you clear your cache and download the pset again, it should be fixed now.)

I renamed the link in the left menu to make it more obvious where to find the problem sets.  So, now, click on "Problem sets" in the left menu on the Stellar site; this takes you to the "Gradebook Module".  Next, click on h1.  Finally, if necessary, click on "View details".  The link to the PDF file should then be visible.  Problem set 1 is due Monday September 8 at 11:59pm, and must be submitted online.
