Office hour tomorrow (Tuesday December 15)

Hi class,

I have to move tomorrow's office hour to 2-4pm (instead of 3-5pm). Once again, please let me know if you couldn't make it because of this time change-- I can also stay around from 4:45-5:30 if there is a need.

Thanks, everyone. Good luck studying for the final exam!

Best,
Jie

14.03 Practise exams & review slides on Stellar

Hi everyone,

I posted today's review slides on Stellar, in case anyone missed the lecture or needs a copy for study purposes. I also posted two more practise final exams with solutions that will hopefully help in preparing for the final. If you run into any questions, we still have normal office hours this week as well as next Monday and Tuesday.

Best,
Sari

Time change for the office hour tomorrow

Hi class,

Apologize for this last minute notice. Due to a schedule conflict, I have to move the office hour tomorrow to 3-4pm (instead of 2-3pm). Please feel free to email me if you couldn't make it because of this time change, and we could try to find another time to talk.

Good luck working on the last problem set!

Best,
Jie

Hint for pset5

I have had a few questions about the separating equilibrium (in Q2a), so here is how to get started with it.
1. Think about what the wages need to look like (we discussed this in class today)
2. Think about how the employees are deciding between schooling vs not (as in class today)
3. In equilibrium both types of workers will be happy with the decision they have made, and this should give you enough to find an upper and lower bound for the tuition T (expressed in terms of Yh, Yl and e).

Last quiz & final exam & exam reviews

Hi everyone,

To be fair to those people who don't usually come to recitation on Friday, I decided to announce in advance that will be doing the last quiz this Friday (as someone might consider that an "assignment" where the last deadline has to be no later than 12/4...). If you usually come to class Mon & Wed, but have a definite conflict on Friday, you may email forn an "extension of the quiz" - if you feel like you really need that quiz... (Remember that if you already have done 4 quizzes, you could drop one as I will only include 4 best out of 5 in the grading.)

Also, for review sessions before the final exam, we are planning to do the following:
1. I will review the new causal approaches and applied analysis on Wednesday (12/9)
2. Jie will hold a review next Friday (12/11) to review the specific topics and key issues covered

If anyone has specific topics that you would specifically like to focus on during the review sessions, please email me before next Monday.

The lecture notes covered by the final exam include: Lecture 13 (Externalities) to Lecture 18 (Immigration). In other words, the final is not cumulative in terms of the topics covered, but covers the last third of the syllabus.

Best,
Sari
