Rec in *E51-151* & Piazza Forum

Hi all,

First, a correction: The recitation is in room *E51-151* tomorrow (2.30-4), which is the one right next door from the room used for lectures (but not the same room).

Second, I would like to introduce you to Piazza, where you can find our course forum: All course & problem set related questions, answers, discussions, etc are being discussed here. You can access it under piazza.com/mit/fall2015/14451 . The way it works is that you can post a question (anonymously if you wish) and your classmates and I can discuss and answer the question (like a stackexchange). It is by far the best way to ask questions about the course outside the classroom, much preferred to standard email.

Best,
Ludwig

First Recitation *tomorrow*

Hi all,

I hope you're having a good second day of classes.
Tomorrow, we are going to have our first recitation for 14.451. We'll first be doing a quick recap of finite dimensional optimization, and we'll start looking at simple dynamic optimization problems. Recitations are Fridays, 2.30 - 4 in the same classroom, E51-145.

Problem Set 1 is posted. It is highly recommended to work on Problem 1 over the weekend, and read Chapter 3 of SLP (posted on stellar).

Alp offered to have a poll as to when his office hours should be. You can find the link here: http://doodle.com/poll/ckfbgtgyd3y5mtpk
Please all vote. The winning time will be announced at the beginning of next lecture (Tuesday). My own office hours scheduling will be done during recitation tomorrow, and then also announced next Tuesday in class.

I'm looking forward to a very productive time with you!

Best
Ludwig
