Clarifications on Problem Set 3
I wanted to make two clarifications on the problem set.
1) for Question 1.3, we also need to assume y_m(L,\tau^m)>y_m(O,\tau^r) to prevent cycles.
2) for Question 3, please set phi=1 for simplification. I am sorry that I did not realize this, but otherwise the algebra becomes a bit untractable..
I also added some materials to learn the concepts on dynamic games in political economy (put under "Recitation" folder in Stellar.) I hope this can be helpful.
Best regards,
Chishio

Recitation 9 on Optimal Non-linear Taxation
Tomorrow, the recitation will go over the overview of optimal non-linear taxation that Alex talked about in class. We will walk through (i) Atkinson-Stiglitz theorem and (ii) some simplified version of the Mirrlees model to see how the incentive compatibility constraint works, and how it captures the efficiency-equity trade-off.
See you then!As usual, it will be at Room 66-160 at 11am.

Chishio
