15.366 Project Selections

This original message was sent via email.

Hello 15.366 students!

Great round of presentations and questions the past two weeks. Detailed instructions about the next step--Project Selections-- are explained below. Please read the instructions carefully and check out the form. As a reminder, projects are listed in the Project & Form doc, and materials are posted on Stellar. Please submit your project selections using the following link: http://goo.gl/forms/1D8kIJumBR by Monday Sept 21 at 11:59PM ET.

OF NOTE: contrary to what was said in class, if you want to be in your own project YOU MUST BID POINTS. See below for more.

Waitlisted students, please proceed as if you were in the class.

If you have questions, it would be helpful to me if you title your email subject as "15.366 Project Selection Question".

Thanks!
Liz

Project Selection Process

Please submit your project selections using the following link: http://goo.gl/forms/1D8kIJumBR by Monday Sept 21 at 11:59PM ET.

Instructions are in the form and listed below.

Contact info for labs is also available in the Project & Form doc

Take a look at most updated materials on Stellar; many have been updated as of earlier today

If there's a potential for project overlap and team interest that combines well... please bring this to our attention. We will also touch base if we see certain trends in the final results.

Each student has 100 points total to allocate across the projects below. Students should indicate interest in 7 projects total. Students must bid a minimum of 1 point for AT LEAST 3 projects, up to 7 projects. This means that students might need to place a 0 in up to four choices (or however many it takes to get to seven projects total). Leave all other project fields blank. This will show us, in a worst case scenario, which projects you would be OK working on. Note that this implies a 98 point maximum for one project. To be clear-- if you still want to work on your presented a technology / idea, BE SURE TO BID ON YOUR OWN PROJECT. It is up to you to determine the point balance among your selected projects.

If enough students find overlap in these projects, there is a possibility to combine to create a new focused venture. Please coordinate among yourselves to determine how you will vote, and make a comment in the section provided.

If you are a project source or presenter, you will automatically be in your own project if enough students select it. (Unless you indicate another project preference.)

If you are a project source/presenter, you can select two students that will be given bonus points for selection to your project. Do not choose 2 students of the same category (e.g. business, technology, policy). This does not guarantee they will be on the team - but acts as a tie breaker.
