Reminder - guest lecture tonight and brief presentation of your Twine games

Hi Technology and Culture class!

A quick reminder that Amanda Giang is coming to give a guest lecture on infrastructure and assigned the Lessig, Clark, and Kitchin readings. She will give a presentation and lead discussion in the second half of class.

I would like to take the first part of class to have each group briefly demonstrate their Twine game and get some feedback; you will have the option of completing a take-home final (questions to be distributed tonight in class) OR expanding your Twine game for the final project, due next week, so these comments may be helpful to groups opting for expansion.

See you soon!

Readings for 12/2 guest lecture are on Stellar

Hi Class --
Hope you are having a great break and are enjoying playing the Twine games! I've posted the suggested readings for our guest lecturer on Wednesday, Amanda Giang on Stellar, so please take a look at those before class.

See you soon!

Twine Game Links on University of Maryland blog!

Here is the link to the games from Dr. Lothian's class; ours will be posted there shortly as well.

Please play as many as you can and leave comments for the creators! They will be doing the same over the break with our games.

Thanks everyone for all the work you put into these games - I'd like for each group to walk us through their game briefly in a mini-presentation in the first half of next class, on 12/2. Also please remember that we have a guest lecturer coming for the second half of that class (Amanda Giang) and she has given me some readings for you in preparation, which I'll post on Stellar.

Have a great break and enjoy the Twine games!

Twine game submissions are starting to come in!

Hi Class--

A few groups have already submitted their Twine games to me; I will hope for the game links and files to come in by the end of today but if you need more time for the blog posts/paper aspect (like another day or so) that is ok.

Please remember to also post the game to philome.la and send a link as well as submitting the files so I can pass those on to Dr. Lothian for her class site. Once we have them posted there I'll let you know the URL so you can play some of ours and theirs over the break.

Thanks!!

Reminder - bring laptops tonight for Twine building!!

Hi Class -

Peter and I are looking forward to tonight's class and doing some Twine building - just a reminder that it would be helpful to bring a laptop and if you haven't already I find that downloading Twine is useful -- you can use the online version but the danger there is that you have to manually save your work using the Archive button or it remains in your browser and nowhere else. . .

We have been working on the updated assignment sheet for this Twine assignment and are including some keywords from the earlier part of this semester to integrate as building blocks, whether explicitly or conceptually. So be thinking about how your group's game concept intersects with "technology" and "culture."

See you soon!
