Chemistry grades on WEBSIS

Your chemistry grades should be made available via WEBSIS by now.  None of the chemistry staff will be able to give you your grade via email.
If you are a freshman, your grade will be a “P” for pass or there will be no credit (if you did not pass the class). To find out your hidden grade, you must meet with your freshmen advisor during IAP. This is an opportunity to review your term with your advisor.

If you are an upperclassman, your letter grade will be seen on WEBSIS.

If you would like to see your final exam in chemistry, you will need to make an appointment with Patti Christie (patti@mit.edu) starting Monday January 25th. You will have until Friday February 12th to see your exam.

Course Evaluations

Hi All,

83% of you participated in the course evaluations. This was 1) Enough to transpose one clicker problem and one Kinetics HW problem onto the final exam and 2) The highest response rate on record for 5.111 (!)

Good job and good luck tomorrow!

5.111 course evaluation!

Hey guys!

The course evaluation for this semester is available now. Don't forget
to give us feedback on 5.111! Your comments, suggestions and even
critisisms are very very significant to help improve the whole teaching
team.

You should be able to find an email containing the link to the evaluation
website in your mit.edu email. Feel free to write down anything. All the
feedback will not be visible to us until we finish the final grading so
that this evaluation will not influence your final grades in any sense.

Thank you so much for the whole semester's accompanying! I love you guys.

Sincerely,
Hongzhou Ye

typo on problem set #11 question 6

One of you fellow classmates Michele noticed a typo on problem set #11. On question 6, you are asked:

Predict the Crystal Field Stabilization Energy for all the ions in problem 5 (for both the high and low spin versions of the complexes if appropriate, i.e., if the answer is different).

Please calculate the CFSE for the ions in problem 5 (not problem 3 as was originally stated).

The corrected problem set has been posted.

Hope you are surviving the trek back to MIT if you are traveling.

Notes from Today's Lecture and PSet 11

Dear Class,

I have posted the completed lecture notes from today's class on Stellar at the following link: https://stellar.mit.edu/S/course/5/fa15/5.111/courseMaterial/topics/topic15/lectureNotes/Lecture_30_From_Class/Lecture_30_From_Class.pdf. Please take a look if you missed class or if you want to see the answers on the last page of the notes.

Also, as a reminder, PSet 11 due Dec. 4 at noon is now released on MITx (the online portion) and on Stellar (the written portion).

I hope you all enjoy the break and come back refreshed! Happy Thanksgiving -- it's been a pleasure doing chemistry with you this semester!
