6.829 Course Information
| Units |
12 (3-0-9) |
| Prerequisites |
6.033 or equivalent. 6.02 is highly recommended. |
| Course objectives |
6.829 is a graduate-level introduction to classic and advanced topics in wired and wireless networks. It also functions as an advanced undergraduate subject. |
| Readings |
6.829 requires reading and understanding several papers. Click on the "Lectures" link under "Materials". You are expected to file an answer to the "Mini-Assignments" asked about the readings before each lecture; these will be due at 1pm on the day of each lecture. |
| PSets |
There are problem sets (PSets), posted roughly every two weeks on the web site. Each PSet is due on the date specified in it. Late policy: You may use up to five extension days (in total) over the course of the semester for the PSets, apportioned in any way. For any other late PSets, your score will be multiplied by 0.5; moreover, you must submit it within 7 days of the original due date to get any credit. If you have a note from Student Support Services, please see your TA or the course lecturer. For all other circumstances (interview trips, sporting events, performances, overwork, etc.) you may use your extensions. If these days are not enough, please contact your TA. Collaboration policy: The PSets must be done individually. You may get help from the course staff and other students on the underlying material in the PSets, but the work you hand in must be your own. In particular, you must not copy another person's solution, code, or other work. Someone telling you the solution to a problem is also not acceptable. Copying another person's work or allowing your work to be copied by others is a serious academic offense and will be treated as such. |
| Quiz |
One quiz, in-class; Date to be specified. |
| Participation |
We expect you to attend all lectures, unless there are pressing or unforeseen conflicts. Conflicts that are persistent (e.g., registering for another class at the same time and "splitting" attendance between them) are not excused. |
| Grading |
Your final grade will be determined as follows:
Mini-assignment responses & lecture
participation: 10%

Final Project Report: Corrections
I messed up the dates in yesterday's announcement. I am sorry about that. I am updating the dates below:
---------------
A few points related to final project deadlines:
- The final project report is due on Friday, December 11 at 11:55 pm. However, if you feel that you really need more time, you can take a 2-day extension and submit the report on Sunday, December 13 by 11:55pm. We prefer submissions by Friday, though.
- You can meet us on this Tuesday to discuss any problems you are facing with regards to your projects. Please sign up here: http://doodle.com/poll/pc7x4c95ph69n3mu
- The final project presentations will be held on Thursday, December 10. These presentations will be made to the course staff only, not to the entire class. You should sign up for your slot here: http://doodle.com/poll/qpenv9wk5s74qrfn
