Final Course Grades

Hey everyone,

Sorry for the delay, we have graded the last exam and final course grades should be up in the next few days. You should be able to check your grades on student.mit.edu once they are posted. For the exam, the average was 75 and the standard deviation was 14. Well done!

If you are interested in getting your exam 3 back, Charlie has them and you should be able to pick them up in lab (WI-509) from him either during the holiday break or during IAP. Send him an email (lich@mit.edu) beforehand to make sure he is going to be around when you go to get your exam.

From all of us, we wanted to thank you guys for being a great class. We all enjoyed working with you guys this semester and hopefully we were able to convey to you guys how powerful a tool genetics can be.

We look forward to seeing you guys around in the coming months for recruitment, rotations, and everything else. If any of you guys have questions about rotations, labs, spring classes, etc., feel free to email any of us, we have been through those hoops quite recently and would be happy to be able to provide some insight.

That being said, have a good break, enjoy IAP, and congratulations on finishing your first semester of grad school.

All the best,

Hannah, Josh, and Charlie

Exam 3 info

Hey Everyone,

Just a reminder that we have an exam tomorrow. Some announcements for the exam:

1) Exam starts at 8:30 am in room 56-154, same room as lecture, and goes until 11:30 am.
2) Exam is open book, so bring notebooks, handouts, lecture slides, psets, etc. However, no electronics, so if you type your lecture notes, print them out beforehand.
3) We will provide you with things to write in/on, all you need to bring is something to write with (anything except red pen)
4) If you have a calculator bring it, there will be math involved. We will also bring calculators but we don't have enough for everyone, so you might end up having to share if you don't bring your own
5) we will bring coffee and donuts to help fuel you guys during the exam

That should be about it. 3 hours is a long time to be taking an exam so make sure you get a good night's sleep and eat a decent breakfast beforehand. You guys are almost done, just hang in there a little bit longer.

Best of luck studying,

The TAs

Pset6 Answer Key Posted

Hey everyone,

The answer key for the last pset has been posted. At this point, we have covered material that should allow you to fully answer questions 1 and 3 and answer most of questions 2 and 5. Material that covers the remaining parts of the pset should be covered in class on Tuesday.

Best,

Association review guide

Hey guys,

We have posted a short review guide about association studies that covers more or less the same material covered in recitation yesterday. Don't worry too much about the equations presented in the guide, those are there for anyone curious. What you should focus on is the concept of association, what we use it for, and when it will and won't tell us stuff.

Let us know if you have questions on this material,
