Last message of the term
Dear all,You just received a message from me with your final exam results and letter grades for 8.811. All students passed the class - that's great! Congrats!
IMPORTANT: you need to contact me by Thursday night if you want to discuss your grade. I plan to submit the grade Friday morning.
Thank you all for participating in class and working hard on the projects. Many thanks to Aram for setting up and grading the PSETs and the final.
This was a rather busy term for me with a lot of travel. I hope you enjoyed the class nevertheless, feel prepared for the Oral Exam and more importantly to do great research at MIT in the years to come.
Best, Markus

PSETs and final
Dear all,Some asked whether it is possible to substitute PSETs for other PSETs or the final exam.
I like the idea to give credit for PSET 6 or 7, so you have the option to use them for another assignment. If you do submit either of them, I'll drop the PSETs with the lowest score.
I can not drop or substitute the final.

Late Due Date
Dear all,The Chair of the Faculty pointed out to me that the due dates of PSET 6 and 7 are in violation with the Rules and Regulations of the Faculty. Those state: for each subject with a final examination, no test shall be given and no assignment, term paper, or oral presentation shall fall due after the Friday preceding the start of the Reading Period. The date is Dec 4th for this term.
Please except my apology.
PSET 6 and 7 will not count for your final grade. The overall grading of the PSETs will be adjusted such that the balance between PSETs and Final remains unchanged (70% PSETs and 30% Final).
PSET 6 and 7 are important elements of the class. I'd be happy to give you feedback on the writeup of your project or the MSW problem. Please contact me if you would like to report on your 8.811 project in class next week.
Best, Markus Klute
