Final examination

2.42 final examination is held on Monday, 12/18 at 1:30 to 4:30 pm in 3-333 (2.42 class room). The exam is closed book. There are 4 problems. It will cover all the class thermodynamic materials. Fluid mechanics and statistical mechanics topics will be excluded.

Bring calculators. Exam booklets will be provided.

Problem set 5

The last problem (#4) in Problem set 5 is optional, since I'll only be covering the materials on Tuesday. However, you should give it a try later, or go over the solution.

It would be more appropriate to have the homework due a week later. However, the due day is constrained by the requirement that there should not be any HW assignment in December.

Since Problem set 4 is mostly algebraic manipulation, I'll make the exercise optional. Nevertheless you should do the problems, or at least look at the solution, to get a good feel for the numbers.
