20.334 Biological Systems Modeling
Fall 2017
Professor: Jongyoon Han
TA: Matthew Thomas Flavin
Lecture:
F2
(56-180)
Office Hour: M 3-4 P.M.
(36-755)
Information:
This course develops practical skills and experiences of using modern numerical modeling software, to deal with Multiphysics problems found in biological / biomedical engineering applications. Realistic biomedical devices and systems with complex geometries will be analyzed numerically, and practical issues and challenges of numerical analysis will be discussed. No prior experience with modeling software or programming experience is necessary. Aimed at helping students carry out senior year projects (20.380).
Announcements
20.334 Finalized / COMSOL email list
Dear Students,Sorry for the delay, but I finalized the project grades for 20.334, which are available on the STELLAR.
Thanks to the strong support of BE department, I am continuing to offer this course next fall, and perhaps even in Spring (stay tuned). If you feel you have learned some useful skills from this, do let other students know about this.
BTW, you are welcome to use the COMSOL software for your MIT academic work, including UROP and other courses. For that matter, if you wish to be included in the "COMSOL email list" I will generate (so that you can get some information about future updates), do let me know.
Have a great holiday!

A few words about final comsol project
Dear students,I would like to share a few words about the final comsol project, on the PIAZZA post.
Remember that I am holding an office hour today 1:30-3:00pm in my office (36-841). If you have started and got stuck, please come to my office.

How to implement partitioning boundary condition
Dear Students,In the final COMSOL project modeling, you will need to implement the partitioning of a chemical species between two phases (membrane vs. solution). I will describe how to do it in the PIAZZA site. Turned out an intuitive method works just fine, while in older version of COMSOL we used to worry about "pointwise constraint" and others....

Final Comsol project posted
Dear Students,I posted the final COMSOL project on the STELLAR. In order to do this, you need to learn how to implement the partitioning boundary condition. For that, we will be teaching it either by video or additional notes later (Wed or Thursday).
Good luck!
