Watermelon Woman readings on Stellar
Hi Class -I hope everyone has had a great Thanksgiving break! I've posted some readings to accompany our discussion of Watermelon Woman for Monday, and will be posting some guidelines for the final paper also this weekend.
I have spoken to several of you already about your topics, for
those of you pursuing a final research paper -- if you are NOT
planning to do an independent topic I will be posting the take-home
essay option by Monday as well, so that you will have two weeks to
work on it.

Schedule Shift - Paris Is Burning for Monday
Hi Class --I've put some readings up for Paris Is Burning for Monday; we watched Tongues Untied in class for anyone who was not there last week, so you can catch up with that one and we will go ahead with Paris is Burning for Monday. Thanks and let me know if you have any questions!

Reminder - no class today; preview The Danish Girl for 10/16
Hi Class-I hope you enjoy this day off today! I have posted some reviews of _The Danish Girl_ for you to take a look at, and also a chapter on visibility from a queer media studies textbook. As you read the reviews, think also about what a review consists of and what its aim is; we will discuss that as well in the next class. I would like you to write a film review of either _The Danish Girl_ or _Carol_, so will move the review deadline forward one week, to 10/23.
Looking forward, _Carol_ is an adaptation of a novel by Patricia Highsmith called _The Price of Salt_, reissued recently as _Carol_. If you have extra time this week, go ahead and watch the film; reading the novel is optional but I highly recommend it, particularly as it gives a lot of insight into choices that are being made to bring such themes and stories to mainstream film.
