Homework #5 Clarification

Please note the following about assignment #5 (posted today, due 4/28/06):

Based on Sunny's lecture today in class, you should be able to characterize phonemes in terms of features, rather than the general-purpose labels we have been using until now.

As an example, consider Question 2. The directions are to identify which sound of the set does not belong, and give the feature or natural class that unifies the remaining sounds:
Example: [d], [v], [b], [p], [k]
Old answer: [v] is the odd one out; all the rest are stops.
Revised answer: [v] is the odd one out; all the rest are [-continuant].

Please be sure to use this format wherever relevant on the homework. And, please ask questions in section if anything is not clear!
