Final announcements
1) The rules for the final exam are the same as in the quizes: you may use any printed materials or your own notes, but no electronic devices, just like in an airplane during take-off or landing.2) The solution to Quiz 1 and notes on depth of focus have been posted. (Included in the notes are also some comments on deconvolution; for those interested in the physics and math of image formation in general, 2.717 will be offered most likely in F09 and will greatly expand on deconvolutions and nonlinear image processing techniques.)
3) Look out for the solution to HW9, which will be posted later this evening. And don't forget to turn in HW9 before 5pm today, if you haven't already done so.
4) When you study for the final, at the minimum you should cover the notes, the practice problem sets, and the solutions to the homework sets and quizes. The textbooks are great resource in explaining the subtleties in more detail and also for additional problems to practice the concepts. You may quote from any of these sources (notes/practice problems/solutions to homeworks and quizes/textbooks) in your solutions to the final exam problems.
5) Feel free to post questions in the class forum. Nader and I will be checking regularly and posting answers as quickly as we can. However, please don't count on us to post answers in the wee hours before the final exam. We'll sleep and so should you.
Thanks to everyone for a great semester, and have a nice summer.
