Uploaded Lecture Notes & Reading Materials

Dear 15.351:

1.  Additional lecture notes and student-suggested readings are now uploaded to the "Materials" section of the site.
Special Thanks: Sanghyun Lee

2. Below are additional links suggested by your classmates:

The WSJ highlights something that we've tackled with Google and I wonder if you think managing the hiring process might trump the actual management of innovative technologies themselves? In other words, if we had to pick a dominant strategy, would it be to focus on hiring the right people and thinking that the innovation will follow? or try to leverage the researchers already with the company to create a great technology and let that technology attract the talent?

Updates on Final Project/PPT and Thanks

Dear Class
First, many thanks for all your kind wishes last week - I really appreciated your messages.
Second, a few details and reminders regarding the final presentation and paper.
Thanks

Final Presentation/Paper .
The final presentation and paper combined constitute 40% of your grade.
They are based on an extension of assignment one or two, and should be done with the same team.  The paper should be written up as a case study: it should describe an organizational dilemma faced by a specific firm as they try to change their organization to be more effective at innovation. The dilemma must be related to their ability as an organization or team to execute their innovation strategy.
Unlike a traditional case, the second half of the write-up will analyze the problem and provide your carefully considered analysis and solution - this can include their solution to the problem and your critique of the solution, based on the material we have covered in class and other relevant material. (TOTAL LENGTH about 6-8 pages).
Presentation:  You will then present this write-up in a presentation to the class - about 10 minutes in length. Your grade will be determined by the quality of the write-up and your presentation.
