Introduction to organic chemistry. Basic principles of structure, bonding, and the reactivity of organic molecules. Introduction to organic synthesis. Focus on the chemistry of alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, aromatic compounds, and the chemistry of the carbonyl group.

Solutions to Final Exam Posted
The solutions to the final exam are posted on the Exams page of the 5.12 website. Professor Jamison is out of town so we will not be able to complete the grading until next week. Students can pick up their graded final exam (which will also include a note with your final course grade) beginning Wednesday afternoon.

The solutions to the Study Guide problems (practice problems for the May 16 Review Session, carbonyl chemistry practice problems, and Spring 2008 Final Exam) are now posted on the Exam page of the 5.12 website.

Final Exam Info and Study Guide Posted
The Final Exam Info and Study Guide document is now posted on the Exams page of the 5.12 website. As discussed in class today, this document includes information on the final exam, review problems for the optional review session on Saturday May 16 (11 AM to 1 PM, Room 10-250), representative final exam problems emphasizing carbonyl chemistry (Lectures 31-35), and a copy of the Spring 2008 5.12 final exam. Solutions to these problems will be posted within the next few days.
