Uncollected quizzes

Please come to my office if you have any uncollected quiz you want to get back. I have all the uncollected quizzes from all the sections. Remember that the deadline to submit quiz 3 for regrade is Monday, May 17 at 5pm. This is a hard deadline so you can have your final grade from websis as soon as possible. Again, we will not be providing final grades by email. Please be patient and wait for your grade on websis.

I am in E53-415. Please come today (Thursday) from 2-5pm or tomorrow (Friday) morning from 9-11am.

Quiz 3

Quiz 3 has been graded and it will be returned in class tomorrow. Just a reminder that students attending the all-section formats of the course with Anna and Jean-Paul will have regular class tomorrow as well. Those of you attending the lecture+recitation format will have no class tomorrow but I will be in the classroom from 2:05 to 2:15 to return your quiz to you. Please do your best to collect your quiz tomorrow. There will be no recitation on Friday and no class from there on. Congratulations on being done with 14.02!

The mean score in the quiz 3 was a 73; Standard deviation 13.5. You can see your grade as well as the distribution for the whole class under the gradebook tab in stellar. Solutions to the quiz have been posted. All the grades for quizzes and assignments are posted on the stellar site, with the exception of problem set 7 which hasn't been graded yet and will be available for pick-up from the 14.02 box outside of E52-201 from Friday onwards.

Regarding quiz 3, we have been very generous in the grades but if after looking at the quiz solutions and your test you are not pleased with your grade, you have until Monday, May 17 at 5pm to submit your test for a regrade. Please follow these instructions carefully. To submit for regrade you need to write a detailed note explaining exactly what you think was graded unfairly and staple it to the front of your quiz. We will read the entire quiz and you may lose points if we decide that we had given you a higher mark than what was deserved. To submit your test for regrade place it in Nicolas Arregui's mail folder in E52 on the third floor (take the elevators to the third floor, then take a right, and then a left and his mail folder is in front of the vending machines).

Please be advised that neither I nor any of the other TAs will be giving final letter grades out individually. You will be able to see your final grade on websis. Please be patient.

The next question I typically get is: what is the cutoff for letter grades? You can infer your standing in the class by looking at the distribution of grades on the gradebook. Typically we do something like:  30-40% As, about 40% Bs, and the remaining C and below. Though this may change if need be.

Good luck studying for your other finals!
