Update:
The drawing for Problem 2 is confusing, as there is a mistake in labeling the currents. Thanks to Wegene for pointing this out!!
When you do the short-circuit current analysis, the voltage across the 10-Ohm and 5-Ohm resistors will be zero (b/c of the short circuit).
This means the current through the 10-Ohm and the 5-Ohm resistor is zero. (that is, i10=0 A and i5 = 0 A)
Then the current through the 20-Ohm resistor will be i20 = 10V/20Ohms = 0.5 A
Then consider the circuit equation for the node joining the top of R2 and the 1-A source. That current equation is
i20 + 1A = i5 + isc.
since i5 is zero, and i20 is 0.5 A, this means the short circuit current is isc = 1.5 A.
Hope that helps...
Also check out the examples in Chapter 2 for more info.

Extra lab time TODAY (tuesday, 5/8)
I will open the lab today (tuesday, 5/8) from 5-7pm. We will probably also have some extra time on wednesday afternoon, details to be announced in class wednesday morning. If you have not yet filled out the survey and anticipate needing
additional lab time, fill it out here:

Extra Lab Time Scheduling
John and I are planning on opening the lab for some extra time this week. Please fill out the following Doodle poll as soon as possible if you think you need extra time in the lab:http://www.doodle.com/phaukuwi4fn2tfe3

Reminder: extra open lab time NOW
The lab is now (5/3, 5pm) for you to catch up on old lab
assignments, and will remain open until 7pm. Please remember to
bring whatever lab handouts you need, since we cannot promise that
we have the old handouts on hand.
