Working towards the final...
Class,Here's what happening from now until the final review.
TUESDAY 5/08: We won't be having our Tuesday seminar this week, and instead we want you to be able to use the time to focus on finalizing your projects / presentations (same routine as last week, you know the drill). Jegan is available to meet with anybody that wants additional feedback, though - just send him an email and ask, and we'll schedule a time.
THURSDAY 5/10: So, we will instead see you at 7pm on Thursday, in the cube, so do set up, etc of your presentations (just like we did before the midterm, you know the drill), and to go over any final project updates, answer questions, etc.
* I've uploaded a zip folder to the stellar site (under the materials section (titled 'Final Presentation Info Book_Template') that you all need to download. In it is the packaged InDesign file for the Info Book (along with a PDF and an IDML file which is compatible with all versions of InDesign). You each need to modify your individual pages (just the PROJECT TITLE, PROJECT STATEMENT, and at least one PROJECT IMAGE must be included. I need to send these to the reviewers by Sunday AM, so make sure to finish this, and email me the InDesign file (w/ links) AND a PDF by this coming Sunday morning.
TUESDAY 5/15: We'll have our final presentations in the cube from 7-9pm. Make sure to be there at least 20min before to set up, deal with audio / visual, etc.
That's all for now.

This week
All,TUESDAY 4/10
For this coming Tuesday (4/10), we are asking that each of you
come to class with a short (~250 word) text that clearly outlines
what your project will be for the rest of the semester. Please make
sure your text clearly states the following:
- What are you responding to?
- What is your position?
- What is your response?
You can think of this as similar to the short project description
you all wrote for the midterm, only it needs to be updated. Again,
the goal is to clarify your position / project so that the rest of
the term from here on out is about focusing and refining a singular
project, as opposed to expanding your project / finding new
ideas.
Also, we're experimenting a bit with tomorrow's class, and have purposefully left a portion of the class unplanned, so as to allow you all to choose how you want to use the time (i.e. for more feedback on projects, brainstorming about the final presentation, work session, etc).
>>>IT WILL BE UP TO YOU TO DECIDE HOW WE SPEND THE LATTER PART OF CLASS, SO PLEASE GIVE IT SOME THOUGHT AHEAD OF TIME<<<.
THURSDAY 4/12
Lastly, for Thursday (4/12), there will be no formal recitation. Instead we will be doing one on one crits again. (We can arrange times in class tomorrow).

This week...
Hi class,Welcome back from your perspective travels.
Here's a breakdown of tomorrow's class:
1. We'll discuss the second half of the semester and the final
term-projects.
2. We'll then discuss the new readings each of you has chosen
(please email PDFs of these to everyone at least by tonight so we
can read it before class). Please upload your 'one thought, one
question' response to the blog as well.
3. Watch Lessons of Darkness, by Warner Herzog.
For Thursday, the recitation will be replaced by this symposium
on Friday (please send Jegan and I an email if you will be unable
to attend), and make sure to RSVP using the link below:

Mid Review Today
Class,Couple quick things about the mid review this evening:
We're planning on going from 7-9p, so please make sure to be there early and all ready to go by 7pm sharp.
As a reminder, the order that was chosen on Thursday will be: Donguk, Sofia, Samira, and Kimberly; with max 15 minutes to present and max 15 minutes for feedback. Also since there are only 4 of you, we'll go straight through the presentations, no break needed.
I've uploaded to stellar the midterm info book that I've sent to the reviewers for your reference, which includes their bios in case you're interested.
See you all tonight.
