May 14 Lecture Topic

Hi Class,

The lecture on May 14 will be on convex optimization. We will discuss linear programs, lagrange multipliers with inequality constraints, L1 minimization, and semidefinite programming. Example problems will come from genomics, x-ray crystallography, and game theory.

PSET 6 Problem 5 Hint

In PSET 6 Problem 5, you will need to compute an integral where there is a dirac delta in the integrand. In lecture, I forgot to give you the following formula:

Integral of delta(x-a) * f(x) dx = f(a).
