Details for Wednesday Demos
Don't forget, final project demos are this Wednesday! (The actual code submission deadline is Sunday night.) Please read the full announcement below:We'll try something new this time around with laptops - please bring your own laptop and be prepared to connect it via VGA (we'll have a backup laptop just in case). The room has two VGA inputs on the side, so we can have one team member from Team B setting up while team A presents. For the presenting team, expect to have a teammate on the side to man the demo while the other teammates talk in the center. We'll also have a document camera for those teams want to show things on their phones.
Expect to have exactly 4 minutes for presentations - hopefully this way of setting up will save you some time.
Some presentation tips:
- Get into a good starting state prior to the demo. If registration
isn't an important component of your project, pre-register an
account and have it signed in at the start.
- Try to use realistic content in your demo. Instead of writing
"good" or "asdlfkasdf" for your reviews, write
something longer / more realistic - if necessary, write it ahead of
time and copy/paste it in. You'll find that sites look very
different when they have real sentences instead of gibberish.
- If you need multiple accounts, opening up an incognito tab is a
quick easy way to get a second session.
- Test it beforehand. Convince yourself that your demo will work
during the real thing.
- Don't forget to introduce yourselves! Start off with who you
are and what your project is about - it's very easy to forget
that, outside your team and your TAs, some of your classmates may
have forgotten what you were working on...
We'll be collecting votes for student's choice and judging for Monday's awards, so show up and support your classmates!
