Final Paper Submission on Stellar and a Note on Academic Honesty

We are really excited to read the final drafts of your papers next week! I have created an assignment on Stellar where you can submit these -- as stated in the syllabus, the deadline is 9am on Wednesday.

As you work on your papers, one thing we wanted to mention is that it's important to maintain academic honesty in your submissions. Please attribute all sources that you use in your paper, and if you copy a section of text from another work, always use quotes and cite it inline.

You all are doing terrific work and we can't wait to see it soon!

Draft paper grades posted, office hours for next week

I've posted the grades for the midterms on stellar. Here are some stats about the distribution of grades:

66th percentile: 96
Median: 92
33rd percentile: 89

If you would like to chat with Annalisa or me, note that our office hours next week will be during class time. You will be able to find us in our offices (E18-270 and E18-271).

Our regular office hours on Wednesday and Friday afternoon will be CANCELLED.

Adam's Office Hours Next Week: BY APPOINTMENT

My office hours next week will be BY APPOINTMENT during class time. The slots are 9am, 9:15, 9:30, 9:45, 10:00, and 10:15 on Monday and Wednesday. E-mail me (sacarny@mit.edu) and we can set up a time.

Annalisa will continue to have her office hours as scheduled on Fridays.

Comments on your drafts/presentations have been posted

I have posted comments on your draft papers and your presentations. You can find them in the homework assignment that you used to submit the drafts. (They'll be there even if you e-mailed the draft to us).

Each comment will have a set of "key points" that you are asked to address. When we look at the final version of the paper, we will be checking that you implemented these points. If you aren't able to do that, the paper should acknowledge the point and explain what prevented you from addressing it.

In addition, in the Stellar comments section you should also see a file attached with a version of your draft paper that I annotated with my comments. I hope that you find these comments helpful as you revise the papers!
