FINDING A MUSIC CLASS: Some recommendations

As you know 21M.051 is vastly over enrolled. This is largely do to glitches in the new online registration system, but we do appologize for the trouble it has caused. If you were forced to leave the section of 051 you had orignally wanted to attend, you can email the Professor of another section to see if they have openings. These will be limited, but it is always worth a shot. In addition students who can read music should be enrolled in Harmony and Counterpoint I, 21M.301.
Secondly, there are other options for students with little or no musical experience who would like to meet an Arts requirement in music. There are limited openings in the following class.
1. Introduction to Western Music. 011 (CI, and good for students without previous musical experience) contact
2. Jazz. 226 (only a few openings) contact mharvey@mit.edu
3. Music of the Americas. 215.
Feel free to contact me, Charles Shadle, cskull@mit.edu, if you have questions.

IMPORTANT: Piano Lab Update

Students should note that, as per the sign-up sheet, only 5 students are allowed in any hour of Piano Lab. All students who have added their names in a "sixth" slot, have been deleted from the roster. If you are in this situation you need to go back to the Lab and add you name to a section that has an opening.
In addition, students may only sign-up through the list on the Lab door. Students who have signed up for a Lab in their Professor's section do not yet have a place in Piano Lab. You must go to 4-070 and add your name to a section that has an opening. No more than 5 students can be accomodated during any hour of lab.
If you have questions please address them to me, Charles Shadle, cskull@mit.edu.
Please note that Labs begin the week of Monday February 10.
