Final exam topics and grades

It's a good time to write again about the topics on the final
(Monday afternoon the 18th at 1:30 in Johnson).  It will
combine the material from the three mid-terms plus
a question on Linear Transformations.  I will have review
problems in the last lecture Wednesday. We are planning
extra TA office hours at the end of next week.

I never use fixed numbers to determine letter grades.
We have graded 18.06 for a long time and we will do our
very best to be fair to everyone.

                                      Thank you for taking 18.06!

This Week's 18.06 Pset

I want to confirm my announcement in class today
that this week's Pset can be turned in either Thursday
(as normal) or next Monday (at the usual place and time).
There will be a Pset next week -- less Matlab than usual --
because these topics of projections/least squares are
so central to this part of 18.06.

In class I also had an opportunity to say a few words
about the sad events of last week and the support I feel
for all of you.   After more than 50 years at MIT, I am
proud of what it has become -- from the President down,
the faculty wants only good for every one of you.
Please let me know any time I can help you.

           Always best wishes,                  Gilbert Strang
