Update - Notebooks Optional
Hi all,In my haste to send the email yesterday, I meant to clarify that the final notebook check is technically not required and is optional - especially if you are focused on other classes and finals at this point! Apologies for the late notice, I just received some questions about it.
Re: Dropbox - some teams shared this with us during the semester, so the purpose of that notice was just to make sure we have everyone's before the end-of-term. We'll be looking primarily for (a) your budget file (which presumably is already done), and (b) photos/videos for us to potentially use in future years of the course.
If your finals/project schedule conflicts with any of the items in the previous email and you're unable to complete one or more items, no problem - just let me know.
Have a good weekend!
Charlie

Final 2.72 Items!
Hi everyone, (hopefully) just one last notice to close things out for the class! See below for details on returning supplies, turning in notebooks, etc (these items together with the death test + competition compose the final class assessment):1. Subject Evaluations - If you can, please take a moment to fill out the course subject evaluations here: http://web.mit.edu/subjectevaluation This will give us feedback on how things went, and how the course can be adjusted/improved if it continues to be offered in the future (in its current, or any adapted/changed form).
2. Team Dropbox Folder / Budget - By Sunday night, please have one person from each team either (a) share your Dropbox/Drive folder with me, or (b) somehow send me a zipped copy of your folder with all of your files from the semester (CAD, datasheets, photos/videos, etc). Please double check that your team budget/expenses file is included, clearly marked, and easy to find!
3. Notebooks - We're doing a quick notebook check before the end of the year, so please drop off your notebooks (individual + team) to Saana at her office by 3:00pm this Friday (tomorrow). They'll be available for you to pick up and keep early next week.
4. Peer Evaluations - You are not required to fill these out, but you highly encouraged to do so, and they will help us get a better understanding of how things went with your project. Please read the instructions at the top and submit them to me by email by this Sunday night: https://tinyurl.com/272-2017-PeerEvalBlank
5. Returning Tools / Toolboxes - Please clean out your toolboxes and return them to us, including the tools and equipment (i.e. calipers) we provided. Drop them off at Saana/Marty's office by the end of Monday next week, together with....
6. Returning Lathes - Although Marty won't be teaching 2.72
next year, it's possible another professor/instructor will take
over the course and may need the lathes. If you haven't
already, make sure to return them to us (drop them off at
Saana/Marty's office) by the end of Monday next week. The
lathes will be stored in the PCSL lab for now - however, in case
they end up NOT being used in the future, I have created this
signup list: https://goo.gl/forms/40X2N2DtqJfMGKsp1
In the event the lathes are not needed next year, I will use this
to contact you down the road so you can pick them up.
Congratulations on a great semester everyone!

Steel Cutting Results
Hi folks, quick follow-up with the steel results - congratulations to Group 6 for having the lowest score of 546! Great job all around - was a lot of fun seeing everything cutting so well today (and probably a huge relief as well). Below are links to the full results:Aluminum: https://tinyurl.com/272-2017-AL-Comp

I'll be in touch a bit later with details on returning the boxes/tools, what to do with the lathes, etc. but for now, take a break!

Competition Time/Place/Details
Hi everyone,Almost there! Just a few details about the competition:
1. It will happen during lecture time, in the usual lecture room: that is, 3-442 at 11:00am
2. We will provide one power supply and set of cables - the same that have been available in MW for you to use. If you require other power sources for any other lathe features (i.e. a DRO or speed controller), make sure to bring those with you.
3. There will be a digital micrometer and digital calipers available for your use. You are permitted to use these to make measurements during your run (i.e. between cuts), as long as the spindle is safely shut off when you are doing so. There are no restrictions on number of lathe starts/stops/cutting passes/measurements (with lathe off)... however, time will continue to tick until you call "Done," and afterwards you won't be able to cut more (so be sure you are ready when you call "Done!")
Good luck and see you soon!
