Problem Set 10 Details

Hi Class,

Problem Set 10 is posted. This problem set is *Optional* and will not be collected. It is on additional state-space concepts and methods, and you find it interesting to read through.

If you would like to submit Problem Set 10 as a replacement for another problem set, please send me an email directly.

2.004 Quiz 3 Details

Hi Class,

Quiz 3 will be held Wednesday 05/09, during regular class hours 9.30am - 11am, in our usual classroom 4-270.

You may bring *3* pages of double-sided cheatsheets. The cheatsheets can be printed. Cheatsheets must be handed in with your Quiz and will be returned.

90 minutes. Closed-book. Come early as we will start exactly at 9.30am.

*Calculators are allowed and recommended.*

*You are recommended to bring a pencil and eraser for sketching*

Topics for Quiz 3 are:

*All material covered on Problem Sets 1-9 and Labs 1-9 and Quiz 1-2*
All lectures up to Friday 05/04

*Emphasis* will be on the following concepts:

7. Frequency Response Methods
a. Transfer functions (Gain/Poles/Zeros)
b. Bode Plots - Reading Information/ System identification/ Sketching
c. Gain and Phase Margins
d. Stability and Performance - System Type Analysis
e. Minimum phase systems (Excluding Non minimum phase systems)

8. Stability of Linear Systems
a. Closed-loop poles
b. Routh-Hurwitz Criterion
c. Root locus
d. Bode plots
Excluding the Nyquist Stability Criterion

9. Compensator Design for SISO Systems
a. P, PD, PI, PID controllers
b. Lead, lag, lead-lag compensators

You should also expect Fundamental concepts such as transfer functions, block diagrams, characteristic equations etc.
