Hi All --

We have 4 more classes, and here is what is going to happen:
On Monday 12/1 and Wednesday 12/3 we will have Alyson Allen with us. Alyson is a bankruptcy and reorganization partner at Ropes and Gray, and was originally planning to giive her two usual classes on bankruptcy and reorg.  But given the subprime crisis, Alyson is planning to talk about that too.  There is a chapter in the text on bankruptcy and reorg, which you should read some time if you are interested in that topic, but we have also posted for Alyson's second class some materials relating to subprime.  These are also not required, but you may find tham more interesting.  These materials include (i) some comments by Warren Buffet on derivatives, (ii) excerpts from a book on derinatives, which explains the fundamentals of credit default swaps and collateralized debt obligations; (iii) some articles on the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy; and (iv) a timeline and some articles on the AIG bailout.

On Monday 12/8 we will have with us Lisa Wood, a partner in the litigation department at Foley Hoag.  Lisa will talk about some of the issues that are arising in the early stages of litigation over subprime.  There are no required readings for that class.  We may post some articles on Stellar.

On  Wednesday 12/10 we will have our final class.  We will walk through the 2nd exercise and wrap up the course with a further discussion of subprime.
