Hello all,
An error inadvertently crept into the online version of the
solutions. The correct way to solve this part of the problem
is:
h_e/L_e = tan(mu);
mu=arcsin(1/M_e) = angle the last
mach wave of the Prandtl-Meyer expansion fan makes with the local
flow direction (in our case, the horizontal or parallel to the end
of the spike). Remember, in an aerospike nozzle, the last expansion
wave impinges on the end of the spike.
This gives mu= 19.47 deg
L_e=16.40 cm.
