I have posted a chapter from Engdahl 1986 as background
reading. I will also post Rullmann & Beck's 1998 SALT
paper "Presupposition Projection and the Interpretation of
which-Questions". Moreover, you should prepare for class
by reviewing what you have learned in syntax classes about all the
reasons to posit reconstruction (lower copies) in wh-movement
constructions.

Shimoyama's paper. I have posted today's handout,
including an added exercise suggested in class, and correction of
typos in (22) and (24) (thank you, Igor). I have also posted
Norvin's handbook article.

When Kai is done with conditional questions, I will start
teaching on the internal compositional semantics of
questions. Readings include Karttunen 1977 (L&P 1.1),
Shimoyama 2006 (NALS 14.2) and others t.b.a.
