I hope you enjoyed Jon Siddall's talk today. That he
is NOT a control specialist should indicate the extent to which
concepts of process automation are important in a variety of
activities you may encounter as an engineer.
Wed May 2: guest lecture by Prof. George Stephanopoulos. He will introduce a concept of control that incorporates a model of the process into the algorithm. It has far-reaching implications for control of multivariable processes, but it can also lead to guidelines for tuning ordinary PID controllers.
Fri May 4: bring your evidence books for peer review. No problem set for Friday; work on tidying up the old stuff.

get to my office late, you can ask my assistant to lock your
bag. Catch up to us by entering the HVAC area through double
doors across from the UG teaching lab, just a bit beyond the
restrooms. However, please get a pair of safety glasses from
the lab before you enter.

help with PSet6 simulink
the nonlinear closed-loop Simulink model requires a C-compiler
to run. That may turn out to be a nuisance for
everyone.
I've made an alternative version that simply interprets the matlab code - this should work more easily for you, and won't be significantly slower. The model, and associated Matlab function file, are posted at the end of the toybox.
It worked when I tried it - let me know if you have trouble with it.

In dealing with Exam 1, I discovered an error in equation
(4.18-1). I've corrected this, as well as made some other
changes based on your reading memos, in an updated posting of
Lesson 4.
