Hello SSB Class,

We hope you had a good weekend. We wanted to send a clarification email as we have had a few questions about the final paper. 

• The paper should cover at least 2 of the cases from the class. The 3^rd company is optional and can be any company/organization of interest to you.

• We realize that there are limited cases from class, but please try to use new cases that you have not discussed in your team paper if possible.

• Your analysis should draw on what you learned from the non-case readings/frameworks and class discussion throughout the semester (e.g. “ Nobody ever gets credit for fixing problems that never happened ” Repenning, N. Sterman, J., The Daly Principles, etc. )

• Basically, what do you think of the situations/actions/approaches in the cases? What would you do differently as a manager ? How does your choice of actions affect your bottom line? How does your choice of actions affect sustainability? What can each of your chosen companies learn from each other’s strategies and challenges?

• We realize this is a broad assignment, so please focus your discussion on a few key topics of interest .

From the Syllabus:

II. Individual Paper (6-8 pages double-spaced) – 1750-2000 words 30%

You will choose any 2 or 3 cases to analyze and compare in terms of strategy, implementation,

impacts, and applicability to other companies or organizations. Cases include the traditional

cases, the company/industry cases discussed in some of the readings, and the simulations. This

individual paper is intended to be an systematic discussion of issues central to the class. Based

on the information provided in the case materials, please be analytically judgmental and

evaluative. You should propose alternate managerial views and action plans whenever

appropriate and discuss the relevance and applicability of the frameworks proposed in the

readings and lectures to these cases. In addition, you should relate your analysis to general

trends in sustainability strategies. In short, you should write what you think of the situation in

the cases and not merely what the authors of the cases say.

Hello everyone,

I apologize but we had a mixup with room scheduling.  Today's double session of Fishbanks from 4-7PM will be in E51-315.  This is the classroom next door to our usual room.

Hello SSB class,

A couple of notes for this week:

1. Please bring your laptop to Wednesday's class. We will be doing the Fishbanks Simulation, which requires a laptop.

2. We will return Team Paper 1 tomorrow morning to the team memeber whose last name comes first in the alphabet.
                 - As a side note for next paper, please turn in a hard copy of Team Paper 2 at the start of class on Wednesday (double-sided, of course)
