Instructor: Elfatih A. B. Eltahir

TA: Lutao Xie

Lecture:  MW 10.30A.M.-12P.M.  (48-316)
Recitation :  F 9.30-11.30 A.M.  (48-316)

Information:

Data analysis is now widely used in many branches of engineering, physical sciences and economics. This subject introduces time-domain and frequency-domain data analysis techniques with a particular focus on environmental applications. This course will cover theory and practical methods for the analysis of univariate data sets, and students will be analyzing data collected from the civil, environment, and systems domains. The topics will include sampling distribution, statistical inference, Gaussian stochastic process,covariance and correlation analysis, introduction of spectral analysis and simulation of random fields.

1.073 Project 4 part 3

Dear Students,

In order to do part 3 in project 4 , it's recommended to make the x-axis in log-scale or both to help with visualizing the results and make comments on the frequencies. You can also convert frequencies into period as well.

Thanks and best,
Lutao

1.073 Project 4 notes for plots; Project 3 grades up

Dear Students,

The grade for project 3 is available in stellar.

When you are plotting the results for project 4. Please note that you can make either y-axis or x-axis or both in log-scale to help with visualizing the data results.
To make y-axis in log-scale: use the Matlab command 'semilogy()';
To make x-axis in log-scale: use the Matlab command 'semilogx()';
To both axis in log-scale: use the Matlab command 'loglog()';
Please note:
For part i), make y-axis in log-scale
For part ii), choose either y-axis or x-axis in log-scale , or both
For part iii), choose either x-axis in log-scale , or both
For part iv), make y-axis in log-scale

Thanks and best,
Lutao
