Final exam reminder

As announced earlier, the final exam will take place on:

Tuesday, December 19 from 9:00AM - 12:00 noon

The duration of the test is three hours. The rooms are assigned according to the first letter of your last name:

A - L in room E51-335
M - Z in room E51-345.

Make sure you allow enough time to find the room. Here is a map:

http://whereis.mit.edu/map-jpg?selection=E51

The exam will be open book. You will be allowed to consult your own notes, your homework sets, or the textbook. I still strongly recommend you take the time to sit down and condense the important points of the course in a few pages. You will learn much in the process, and won't waste time in the exam...

Good luck,

-p

Midterm exam

The midterm will take place this Wednesday. Here are some further clarifications:

- As it says in the syllabus, and I mentioned in class, everything in lectures 1-9 (and the corresponding recitations/homework) is included. That is:

Linear Optimization, Simplex, Duality, Sensitivity analysis, Robust Optimization and Large scale optimization.

Or in other words, *everything* we've seen (either in class, recitations, or homework, by either me, the guest lecturers, or the TAs), except network flows.

- It will be a closed book exam, but you will be allowed to bring up to two sheets of paper (single or double-sided, handwritten or typeset) with formulas (or similar) that you yourself have prepared.

- No laptops. If desired, you can bring a (standard) calculator, but it shouldn't be necessary (or useful).

- Regarding practice midterms, there are two from previous years available from the OCW page of 15.093 (see the link from the main Stellar homepage of our course).

Please let me know if there are further questions/issues.
