Assignment groups (form your own group or submit the background survey)
Hi all,The group assignment questions will be done in groups of at most three people. You have the choice of either forming your own groups or letting us form groups for you. The deadline is Friday.
If you are forming your own groups, please notify me of the names and email addresses of the group members by Friday. Please remember that groups cannot have more than three people.
On the other hand, if you would rather let us form a group for you, please fill out the background survey by Friday. The survey is available from the "survey" link on the Stellar site, and we will try to form well-balanced groups based on the various backgrounds.
Best regards,
Brandon

Announcement on first recitation tomorrow and class attendance
Hi everyone,Welcome to 15.450. I have two announcements.
1. There will be a recitation tomorrow. Recitations are on Fridays, 10:30 - 12:00 in E62-233. Recitation slides are posted in the recitation section of the course materials. Moreover, in addition to Professor Kogan's office hours, I will hold my office hours on Fridays, 1:00 - 2:30.
2. As discussed in class today, attendance is mandatory. In all future classes, I will look around the classroom to take note of those present. A couple of remarks are in order. First, if there is a legitimate reason to be elsewhere, please let Professor Kogan and me know in advance. Second, as I have not learned your names yet (certainly not yet!), I would like to ask you to present your name cards at all times. Please understand that this is absolutely crucial and that I cannot take the attendance without your cooperation in this regard. Third, I will take the attendance about 20-30 minutes into the class to allow everyone to settle in, but please be considerate of your classmates and try to avoid coming in late, if possible.
Thank you. I look forward to an exciting semester with you.
Brandon
