First class Tue Sept 10; first assignments
Welcome to The Film Experience.
No class this first week. The course begins Tue 10 Sept in 3-270. Pre-registered students must attend this first lecture to confirm their enrollment. Students wishing to enroll should bring their add forms to the class.
Required viewing, prior to the first lecture:
1. Lectures 1 and 2 on the OpenCourseWare site for 21L 011.
2. Early short films: The Great Train Robbery, A Beast at Bay, The Lonedale Operator
3. Buster Keaton films: Cops (a short) and The General.
These films will be shown at the screening Tuesday evening, but you should be familiar with the short films, at least, and with the OCW lectures before the first lecture next week.
Required films are available on DVD from the Film Office, 14N-428. But feel free to use online sources for the films listed above. All but The General are shorts, none longer than 30 minutes.
I'm looking forward to an exciting semester.
