Exam & Problem Set 4 & other things
Hi all,This is a reminder that next week Monday (Dec 19), we're going to have our final exam. It is from 9.00 to 11.00 in room E51-151. Please make sure you are on time!
The exam will be of a similar format as the 2012 final that I posted. There will be 3-4 short questions and 1-2 long questions. Unfortunately I will be out of town on Monday, so my classmate Greg will be your proctor, and ready to answer questions if any come up.
The exam will be open book and open lecture notes. This means you can bring Daron's book, and Daron's lecture notes from class (allowed to be annotated). Anything else is not allowed.
Your solutions to problem set 4, as well as older problem sets that you did not pick up, are graded and can be picked up in my folder on the 3rd floor.
If you have any last minute questions, please do not hesitate to contact me! (preferably via Piazza) Note that I did not find any official solutions to the 2012 exam. If you would like to check your solutions against those of your classmates, Piazza is perfect for that! Just share your results and compare with each other! I will try to stay active on Piazza too, but I will be traveling this weekend.
Finally, let me say that it was a joy to work with you! I hope you got something out of this class and I wish you all the best of luck and success for the remaining semesters and years at MIT and beyond! Good luck on Monday!
Best,
Ludwig

Our final recitation!!
Hi all,Today we're going to have our final recitation. I will be talking about
* how to measure knowledge spillovers empirically (Bloom,
Schankerman, Van Reenen)
* the directed technological change model
* what the consumer's budget constraint looks like in
endogenous growth models
* price indices
* how free entry condition and innovation possibilities frontier
are connected.
Some of these are direct requests by you. Please keep those
suggestions coming! I am planning to do a review session next week
(details to follow) where I'd be very happy to discuss your
questions!
(Better ask me know rather than ask yourself during the exam ;-)
And keep in mind that you can ask *completely anonymously* on
Piazza!)
See you later!

Recitation 4
Hi all,Today in recitation I will introduce a general framework that can serve as a guideline when solving many of the endogenous growth models we encounter in this course.
I will then apply this framework to two specific models:
- A knowledge spillovers economy, like the one we have seen in
class, and the one in Question 4 of Problem Set 4.
- The Schumpeterian growth model Daron mention in the last
lecture.
Hope to see you later!
Best,
Ludwig
