Announcements
Paper Topics Up - Long paper one
Essay is due 11/10 and assignment is up under Materials;
please read the document in full to see requirements, approach,
options, etc. You will be writing about more than one film, and I
make clear what your options are for each question. I try to give
you lots of sub-questions to get you thinking, but also give you a
lot of flexibility as you develop your specific argument and
approach.

Plex server - copies of screened films
Hello All - This is an important announcement. Our class has a
plex.tv server set up through the MIT Film Office, which permits us
to put up copies of films you have already seen in screenings; they
are not a substitute for seeing the films Monday night (and films
are not posted until the week after our study of them), but you
will want to have access to the site to consult the course films
for close analysis, for papers, for review for section, etc.
Instructions on how to access the plex site are posted under
Materials next to the syllabus. Best, eb

Short Paper - due Sat Oct 1
You will talk about -- and/or have time to ask any questions
about -- your first short assignment on editing in section today.
The assignment and the clips about which you can write are under
Materials -- and you may need to download the clips to view them
(some browsers require that). You will produce a shot breakdown in
addition to a 2-3 page essay and turn in both. It is due emailed to
your TA on Saturday October 1 by 11.00 p.m. as a pdf. Cheers all,
eb
