Micro Problem Set Posted
This micro-pset is now available. Click here! It is administered in lieu of the quiz, previously scheduled for December 12th. As such it contributes to the final grades in the same proportion as the quiz would have. This means it will account for 40% of the final grade for 6.0002 students and 20% for 6.00 students. This micro-pset differs from previous psets in many regards, the most notable ones are listed below:* You will not be allowed to use late days for this pset.
* You MAY NOT consult with others on this problem set. Collaboration violations of any sort will result in a 0 on the pset.
* There will be no office hours for the duration of this pset.
* You can post private questions on Piazza to ask for clarifications, but no other posts will be permitted
* There will be no checkoff for this pset.

IMPORTANT re. Quiz--PLEASE READ
Yesterday morning, a student in the class brought to our attention that the test schedule we posted in September violates MIT policy. In the past (and still for graduate subjects) it was permissible to have either a problem set or a quiz during the last week of classes. Based on feedback from students in last year's class, we decided to have a non-comprehensive quiz during the final week of classes rather than a comprehensive final during finals week, but that is now not allowed.
After consulting with the appropriate office at MIT, we decided to cancel the quiz and replace it by a MICRO-PROBLEM SET that will contribute to final grades in the same proportion as the quiz would have. The problem set will be made available immediately after class on Monday. It will be due at 4:30PM on Wednesday. It will not require any advanced study, and should take 2-4 hours to complete. It will differ from other problem sets in other important respects:
o It will be easier as well as shorter
o You will not be allowed to use late days
o You MAY NOT consult with others on this problem set
o There will be no help provided in office hours
o You can post private questions on Piazza to ask for clarifications, but no other posts will be permitted
o There will be no checkoff
We apologize for this last minute change of plans. This mistake was ours, and we regret it. However, we now have to make the best of a bad situation.
Apologetically,
John Guttag and Ana Bell
