2.913/6.907/6.933  Entrepreneurship in Engineering

Fall 2018

Instructor: Christina Chase

TA: Evan Hartley Platt

Lecture:  TR EVE (7-9 PM)  (32-141)

Information:

Entrepreneurship in Engineering is an introductory project-based entrepreneurship class designed to give students the ability to explore the different aspects of what it means to be entrepreneurial and learn the tools and frameworks needed to successfully go from concept to company.

Students will:
- Explore the various aspects of what entrepreneurship can look like
- Understand the mindset of an entrepreneur
- Learn about methods, frameworks and tools for discovery, validation, design and development
- Learn where to start and what to think about when creating a new venture
- Gain exposure to various aspects of entrepreneurship from product to team to legal to fundraising
- Learn about obstacles that may threaten success
- Be introduced to entrepreneurship resources at MIT

Learn hands-on how to think about bringing an idea to fruition, with exposure to those who have done it at MIT and in the surrounding community. Although we will cover the basics of new venture creation, you do not need to have an existing idea or project that you are working on.

Even if you’re not ready for a start-up, this course is designed to provide you insights from others who have taken entrepreneurial paths and insights into their experiences, beyond media portrayals, and critical decision points they encountered along the way.
