Reminder for Portfolios

Your portfolios should be designed to give someone unfamiliar with 16.00 an idea of what you did and what you learned this semester. That means ALL the projects should be included, as well as your homework assignments. You should also include the assignment sheets themselves, so the reader will know what you were trying to do.

For the LTA, include PDR and CDR, records of team activities (some students included emails relating to their design meetings). It is important to highlight your own personal contribution. This may not be apparent just from your team documentation, so pay attention to this.

I told the class that note taking was not a requirement, since I post lecture notes, so I will not deduct anything if you do not include class notes. However, if you show this to a potential employer, class notes might be of interest. Regarding the idea of showing this to a potential employer, please make sure that the presentation of your portfolio is appropriate. It should be bound, with a table of contents and page numbers, so you can locate information you are seeking.

Finally, I will be looking for your own comments on what you learned from 16.00. This is an important part of the portfolio. Make sure your comments are easily locatable. If anyone has more questions about this, please send me emails. I will post answers for the entire class.
