Updates to 16.09 assignment/lecture schedule

Dear Students,

A few of you have expressed concern about the busy week in 16.09 following spring break after the Unified exams. We'd like to keep the course moving at an appropriate pace while ensuring that assignments are manageable. After discussing the best way forward, we will be making the following changes:

1. Problem Set 6 will remain due on Monday, March 30. Since the problem set was posted on March 16, this gives you two full weeks to work on it.

2. The first part of the project will no longer be due on March 30. Instead it will be due one week later, on Monday, April 6. No homework assignment will be due that Monday, so that you can focus on the project. We still suggest that you start the project early, however, and that you have a good look at it as you prepare for the midterm exam.

3. Lecture will be cancelled on Wednesday, April 1, in accordance with MIT rules on evening exams.

The following last two items are not changes, but are worth noting nonetheless:

4. Recitations on Tuesday March 31 will serve as a review session.

5. The exam will be held on Thursday, April 2 from 7:30--9:30 PM in 37-212, as we announced on March 18.

If you have any questions about these changes, please let us know. Finally, if you have a conflict with the evening exam due to sports, classes, or extracurriculars, please email <16.09-staff@mit.edu> as soon as possible. We will contact everyone who has a conflict to make arrangements for an alternative exam time.

Have a great Spring break!

Best regards,
- Your 16.09 Team

Update of Homework 2

Dear Students,

There is an error in Homework 2: Problem 3 is the same as Problem 9 in Homework 1. You do not need to do Chapter 2, Exercise 46. A new version of Homework 2 has been updated on the Stellar website and this repeated problem has been removed.

All the best,
-Your 16.09 Team
