more final remarks
Dear students,
Our final exam is tomorrow (Friday), in 4-163 (the usual classroom), from 9 AM to noon. We will start exactly at 9 AM and finish exactly at noon, thus the exam will be 180 minutes long.
There will be 10 problems on the exam, out of which 6 problems (or 90 points out of 150 total) will cover Chapters 22 and 24-27. For those of you who missed the second midterm, your second midterm grade will be made equal to 2/3 of your final grade. I will give the graded exams and unclaimed homeworks/previous exams to Galina Lastovkina in E18-366, you will be able to pick them up after the grades are assigned.
Also, please remember that you can bring the Mattuck textbook to the exam, as well as the limits, derivatives, and Taylor expansions handouts, but you may not bring anything else - this includes past homeworks and practice problems and their solutions.
Best regards,
Semyon Dyatlov

some final remarks
Dear students,
First of all, if you haven't done so yet, I strongly encourage you to complete the course evaluation online at http://web.mit.edu/subjectevaluation/ .
I uploaded some hints and answers for the final exam practice problems. I however encourage you to try to do the problems yourselves before looking at the hints. Please do not hesitate to ask me by email or in office hours if you have any questions about those.
All homeworks have been graded and the results posted. I will send you a PDF file of your last homeworks individually later today. You can pick up old homeworks in office hours; I will bring whatever remains to the exam.
Finally, the office hours for next week are 2-5 PM on Thursday - I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
Best regards,
Semyon Dyatlov

final exam and this week
Dear students,
First of all, if you have not done so already, please fill out the subject evaluation at http://web.mit.edu/ subjectevaluation .
You have time until Monday May 18, 9 AM.
I have just uploaded the final exam practice problems . On Tuesday, I will cover Chapter 23 (in a more light-hearted way since a serious treatment of the Lebesgue integral is outside of the scope of our course), and on Thursday, I will do a review, in particular answering any questions you may have about the practice problems.
The final will have 10 problems for a total of 150 points and 90 of these points will be problems on Chapters 22-27; Chapter 23 will not be included on the exam.
The office hours will run as usual this week - Tuesday 1:30-2:30 and Wednesday 2:30-3:30. Next week I am planning to instead hold office hours right before the exam, on Thursday (May 21) from 2-5 PM. Please let me know if you prefer an alternative time, and please do not hesitate to ask me questions by email.
Last but not least, please take a moment to look at your grades on Gradebook and make sure that all the scores (except homeworks 11 and 12 which have not been graded yet) are entered - if you see anything missing, please let me know.
Best regards,
Semyon Dyatlov
